Dance Pizazz Ballroom Dancing FAQ
1. I like to dance but I have two left feet, can I learn?
Dancing is for everyone who loves music and wants social interaction. If you have the desire to dance and you are able and willing to be reasonably consistent in attendance, then, we assure you that in short order, you can achieve your goal of becoming a great dancer!
2. Is there an age limit or range?
No. Dancing is a natural and ageless form of expression; there is no age limit just the desire to learn and have fun.
3. How long will it take me to learn?
It depends on how often you take lessons or classes and how much time you devote to practicing what you have learned. Everyone’s ability to learn and retain is different.
4. Which dance is the best for me to start?
At Dance Pizazz each student can start with whatever they want. But we always encourage our students to start with the New Student Offer, in which we can begin to build a basic foundation of the Foundation Dances. With this understanding, all future learning will be much more fun, easy to grasp and faster too.
5. How many lessons do I need before I can go to parties?
Dance Pizazz can teach all the basic steps in the matter of just a few lessons that will allow you to start enjoying dance parties right away.
6. What is best, groups classes or private lessons?
Each has its benefits. A private lesson gives you the opportunity to be on a one-on-one basis with the instructor and gives you personal feedback and the chance to ask as many questions as possible. Group lessons give you the opportunity to dance with different partners.
7. Do I need a partner to participate in dance?
No. In private lessons you dance with your instructor, if you have no partner. In group classes we have many students who come alone and we work with everyone on a rotation basis. However, if you bring your partner bring them along and join in the rotation and fun!
8. How do I practice what I have learned?

9. What do I need to wear for classes?
Dancing is about movement and enjoyment. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to be flexible and relaxed.
10. Do I need dance shoes?
Dance shoes are recommended but not required. However, to prevent injury caused by excessive traction, we advise that you do not wear rubber-soled shoes. Sharp heels or shoes with metal bottoms are prohibited because they can damage the floor.
11. Do you teach children?
We have juniors of all ages who learn at Dance Pizazz.
12. Do you have performances for the students?
Dance Pizazz participates in competitions various times throughout the year, and hosts two annual showcases (aka dance recital) every May and December.
13. Are these performances for advanced students only?
No. Competitions and our annual showcase is for everyone beginner and advanced. If you are willing to put the extra time required to prepare for the performance you can sign up with the teacher you would like to perform with. It is a lot of fun, and provides a great impetus for increasing how fast you grow.
14. How long does it take to prepare for the performance?
In the average, a minimum of three months is required to prepare for the show depending on the availability of the student. If a student can spend more hours a week for practice less time might be necessary.
15. What are the criteria to participate in a performance?
A student desiring to participate in a performance first need to select who he or she wants to dance with and need to contact the studio as soon as possible to discuss the availability of the event they would like to perform in.
16. Which dances do you offer?
We offer all the American-Style Dances. These include Rhythm and Smooth. Rhythm dances including: Chacha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo, West Coast Swing, Samba, Salsa, Merengue, and Disco Hustle. The smooth dances include: Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, and Viennese Waltz. Additional dances from, Country Western, Street West Coast and Salsa, Night club, plus International Latin and International Standard are also available.
17. What are the current classes being given?
Please check with your instructor for a complete listing of classes.
18. Will you be teaching other dances in the future?
We add new classes upon request of our current students and depending on the number of students signing up for the new class.
19. Do you prepare choreography for wedding?
Dance Pizazz will make your first wedding dance one to cherish for a lifetime. Our dance instructor will put together a routine designed just for the two of you. See our wedding dance page for more information.
